2-Day Strike By AIMTC For Insertion Of ‘Diesel Under The GST System’

All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) opposed to GST and fuel price with 36 hours strike. This apex body of Transporters commented that GST (the new taxation system), had intensely affected the transport trade.

The AIMTC (All India Motor Transport Congress) represents near about 50 lakh buses and almost 93 lakh truckers including tour operators across the country. The transporters have decided that they will remonstrate against the pitiless stance of the government, fuel price hike, corruption and the new tax structure, GST. As a step to protest against these issues, they will execute a 36 hours strike or Chakka Jam October 9th & 10th.

The gripe by truck dealers comes just days ahead of the expected national strike by petrol pump dealers on 13th of October. This protest is planned to put forward an urge for better margins and inclusion of petroleum products in the Goods and Services Tax.

This national strike is supported by AITWA (All India Transporters Welfare Association). This association claimed that the government has botched to provide required clear guidance regarding the lately introduced sales tax method, GST, to the transporters.

Almost 65-70 percent operating cost of transportation (trucks) is covered by toll tax and fuel. The prices for Diesel are required to be categorized under GST in order to make sure that the pricing for fuel is equal across the nation.

This dissent by the Transporters is on the verge of affecting food supplies across the nation. The association for transport comments that they will show up a strike for just a couple of days for the time being due to the festive season. Additionally, they commented that if their needs are not satisfied, then they will perform an indefinite strike.

NOTE: The Truckers in the State ‘Odisha’ will not participate in this 2-Day country-wide strike convened by AIMTC (All India Motor Transport Congress). This protest by Transporters association will have commenced today (Monday) from 8am on the lookout for insertion of ‘diesel under the GST system.’
