World Environment Day 2018: A brief about India’s current ecological scenario

With a population of more than 1.3 billion, our country is soon set to extricate China as the most crowded nation of the world. Whereas India has one of the highest growing populations in the world at present, it is far behind most others when it comes to preserving the environment and the ecology. Today, our country is puzzled with several environmental concerns that have only provoked in the recent decades.

It is high time we tackled these issues head on as turning a blind eye is no solution. Even as the country moves forward to be a part of the association of top most economies around the globe, it must stick to a developing path that is ecologically maintainable. Neglecting the environment can create havoc and the damage done may become irreparable. So we must wake up and smell the coffee before it’s too late.

Eliminating the toxic waste

These days, pollution is an affair of very serious concern; as this is happening because of the copious smoldering of the fossil fuels. Among the causes for this ecological contamination, one is the standard technique of power generation to generate electricity. If a picture of the world’s toxic waste is clicked, the nations that make use of non-conventional power make many times less pollution than those with conventional power usage. So, due to this heavy pollution, climates all over the world have been changed, and people are facing lots of problems.

To get away from this major issue, the only technique is to take on the routine of making the use of renewable sources. Among all the renewable energy sources, solar energy is the only major, environmentally independent source of energy that is sustainable and can produce a good amount of energy. The major issue of solar cell is its increased price and deprived competence. But improved technology has been revealed that will decrease the price of solar cell, with enhanced effectiveness.

The contaminated air

Although the country holds a wealthy and extended history of environmental commandments dating back to the era of 1970s, it still ranks very down on the levels of air & water pollution compared to rest of the world ensuing in increased percentage of infant mortality as well as the low life expectancy. The deficient sanitation in the surroundings and sewage issues complicate the situation affecting the health of ordinary citizens in the country.

The causes for this connection between progressive ecological rules as well as high levels of toxic waste could be marked out to lax enforcement of environmental laws at existing, inconsistency in the environmental strategy for businesses to follow between the central government and at the state levels, and the existence of numerous SMEs who neither comprise of the necessary resources nor the advanced mechanical skills to stick on to the present environmental rules.
