About Vapi
Vapi is an Industrial town in Gujarat and one of the 5th most developed city in Gujarat. Proximity to the larger cities of Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad has supported Vapi to reach current level of industrial activity. Vapi Industrial Estate was inaugurated by GIDC and has 1400+ industries, of which majority are SMEs.
Almost 70% of the total industries in Vapi are chemical plants. Other major industries include paper, packaging, pharmaceuticals, plastics, rubber, textiles, wood, computer hardware and software, engineering workshops, glass, and food products. One of the Industrial features of Vapi is the Common Effluent Treatment Plant. This is the largest of its kind in Asia and one of India's biggest effluent treatment plants in terms of capacity, treating the pollutants from these industries before the effluent is released into the river.
Vapi has the maximum number of Kraft paper & duplex board paper mills in India. The best quality paper producers are located in Vapi and have more than 20 kraft paper mills. Therefore, Vapi is also called as "paper hub”. The major industrial areas in Vapi are Bhilad, Sarigam, Umargam, Dharampur-II, Pardi, Vapi, Valsad, etc. Moreover, the cost generally charged for goods transportation from Vapi starts at 950. The prices may vary in accordance with the type, weight, quantity of material and distance to be travelled. The areas nearby are Daman, Amli, Silvassa, Pardi, Parnera, Valsad, Dharampur, Bilimora, Chikhli, Dahanu, Gandevi, Navsari, Chinchani, Jawhar, Tarapur, etc.
